The selection criteria for the 2011 Island Games has been decided in terms of two shooting matches, shoulder-to-shoulder, one in December 2010 and one in January 2011, the second including a 10 shot final. This selection process is required for Men's 10m Air Rifle and Ladies 10m Air Pistol events. Men's Air Pistol and Ladies Air Rifle do not have more than the maximum numbers of competitors and therefore they are not required to take part in a selection competition.

The scores of each match, including the 10 shot final will be aggregated and the competitors with the 2 highest scores will be put forward for final selection.

The first selection competition was held on Saturday 11 December 2010 at Cobo United Air Rifle Club at 1pm. The second round was haled at North United Air Rifle Club on Saturday 15 January 2011. The results are as follows.
